Unit 4- Cubist still life

On each table we have a few objects. either to do with PE, art, or Music. Choose which table you want to sit at. We will be working on our drawing skills and drawing each object as realistically as possible. After you have drawn each object individually, compose them in a still life.

For homework set up your own still life at home to draw.

Now that you have drawn a realistic still life we will use this to turn it into a cubist still life.

Cubism is an art style where artists try to capture their subject from different points of view. Many of the shapes are geometric and the colors are bold. One of the founders and perhaps the most famous cubist artist was Pablo Picasso.

Guess what his full name was?! Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. Wow. His father was an artist and he started drawing and painting from a young age. Throughout his time his style went through a lot of changes. We will focus on his cubist works.

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” – Pablo Picasso
